Vacation Rentals, House Swap and B&Bs finally under one roof!
What is house swap?
House Swap is a growing world-wide trend that stretches your travel dollars. When you eliminate the need for paid accommodations, you can extend the length of your stay, experience multiple destinations and truly feel like a local in your home away from home.
House Swap is a form of Vacation Rental. We have hundreds of Vacation Rental Owners and Managers who rent out their properties but once or twice a year go on holidays themselves and make their properties available for house swap. Enabling House Swap option on your Vacation Rental listing will attract may more clients who may or may not be compatible with your swap dates and who may end up filling out a rental enquiry which in turn will help your paid bookings if you're the owner. Owners can also opt for House-Swap only option when signing up.
We have been following this industry for over 10 years now and the rates of successful rentals are in the 99% range. Travelers tend to be extra cautious and respectful when they know you are staying at their home. Moreover, we facilitate close contact between parties who get to know each other and often build long lasting friendships.
All properties are promoted equally and some will attract more offers then others, but as long as your home is clean and your neighborhood friendly, you will be noticed. We noticed that putting a spotlight on the area and things to do around your property is a great incentive to swap with you. Be as detailed in your listing description as possible, and make sure you fill out "points of interest" on the Google Map with phone numbers and addresses of all the attractions and sights in your area.
House swap tips
Treat house swap as a business concept. It will not make you money but it can save you thousands and allow you to see incredible destinations. Create a plan where you can define your objectives: how often you would like to travel or where your favorite places are.
Be as open to as many destinations as possible. We highly recommend choosing the "world" option as it will give your property most exposure and you might receive offers from amazing places you never knew existed!
Make their stay a blast by learning more about them and then providing activity options that match their interests. From best surfing beaches to the hidden sights only known to locals to the best ski slopes- leave them plenty of info on what to do and where to go!
Your guests will have the chance to review the house swap experience and make sure they only have good things to write about. Clean house is a must- have so spend some time and money having it professionally prepared for the stay. Arrange optional cleaning by leaving your cleaner's phone number.
You might have some requirements and needs. Make sure to ask for everything in advance as it will surely prevent any misunderstandings during the swap process. Respect other owner's limits and restrictions and most of all make a good impression on the neighbors by being friendly and respectful.
Treat the property like your own- take care of plants (especially if it is in your contract), manage the utilities such as garbage and keep the surroundings clean at all times. At the same time make your guests aware of any particular duties by placing them in the contract that they sign.
