    Welcome to Chateau Marouatte, a stunning 14th Century fortified castle steeped in history and now restored as an amazing family home and available for rent throughout the year.

    Set in the Dordogne region of Perigord Vert in France, Chateau Marouatte enjoys spectacular panoramic views over the surrounding countryside.

    The chateau provides a stunning venue for holidays, weddings and very special occasions. It combines a magical charm with modern comforts such as Egyptian cotton bed linen, satellite TV and wireless broadband.

    Chateau Marouatte has 12 individually styled bedrooms (11 kingsize/double and 1 single) plus 7 bathrooms. The 240 acre estate also includes a heated swimming pool, tennis court, playing field and many beautiful walks.

    Murder Mystery evening - we organise this event for you at the castle, the evening and script is arranged around number and type of guests in your group taking into account any special requests, events and celebrations. The event includes a 3 to 5 course dinner by a Cordon Bleu Chef accompanied by a "Who's done it" mystery that the guests in teams of 4 to 6 people dissect scenes and interact with the actors to identify the murderer. Beer, wine and cocktails are also included in the price.

    The local village Possac St Vivien is 3km and the larger village of Lisle with its general store, chemist, boulangerie and post office is 7km. Grand Tocane St Apre is 12 km and has a supermarket and many more shops. For hypermarkets, sports shops, gifts, and clothes shopping, Perigueux (the cultural, and gastronomic capital of the Dordogne) is easily accessible - about 20 minutes to the hypermarkets, 10 minutes more into the town centre.

    The nearby town of Brantome, known as the Venice of the Dordogne, is truly delightful. An early evening visit is recommended - dine at Moulin des Abbayes. The local village and chateau of Bourdeilles is also worth a trip.

    The Dordogne is one of the gastronomic centres of the world, famous for its foie gras, duck, truffles and mushrooms. There are many excellent, inexpensive restaurants in the area that use traditional cooking recipes. The famous vineyards of Medoc and St Emilion are close by and the local wines of Bergerac, Yquem, Monpazier and Cahors are also excellent.
