About this vacation property in London, England

There are two large reception rooms, each with TV and stereo, one with grand piano, each with large south facing windows. Modern bathrooms each with bath and shower, one en suite, one large family bathroom. There is one large attic bedroom; another double bedroom and child's bedroom on the floor below; and a study with a double wall bed on the floor below that. We have a garden (with climbing frame) and a roof terrace.

We have two very affectionate, pretty, and trouble-free Burmese cats, and if renters were happy to look after them that would be great.

We are in East London, 1 minute from Victoria Park (a large park given to the East End by Queen Victoria). The site of the 2012 Olympics is 20 minutes walk from us. The area is residential, mainly Victorian housing built by the Crown Estate in the 1850s; it is a popular area for young professionals and families. It takes about 30 minutes by bus, underground or taxi to get to central London (Bethnal Green tube station, one stop from Liverpool Street in the City, is 15 minutes walk, and there are frequent buses to central London). There are many good local restaurants and artisan food shops and a thriving food and farmers' market on Saturdays. The Hackney Empire Theatre and the Bethnal Green Museum of Childhood are an easy walk away. On Sundays, Columbia Road flower market and the shops and market in Brick Lane are an easy walk away. Victoria Park (ideal for a family walk, run or picnic) is just across the road.

    No smoking

We are hoping to be reasonable about rent - we'd prefer to rent to a family/group of friends who are going to be there for the duration and would behave more like guests than tenants (and look after our cats). If you had a house in a holiday area (either Europe or N America) that we might be interested in staying in ourselves during the games, we might well be happy to set that against the rent.
